Privacy Policy

The short version: Velo Workspaces has no account, no sign-in, and no cloud dependency for anything a workspace does. Diagnostics and crash reporting are opt-in and off by default. Everything — the guest operating systems you run, your files, and any AI models you use through AI Bridge — stays on your Mac.

No account, no server

Velo Workspaces doesn't ask you to sign in, and it doesn't have a backend server of its own. There is nothing for the app to send your data to, because there's nothing on the other end. Workspaces, their configuration, and their disk images are stored locally on your Mac, in your user Application Support directory, and never leave it unless you explicitly move or share them yourself.

AI Bridge is local, end to end

AI Bridge lets a workspace reach a model server running on your own Mac (for example, Ollama) as a plain local network endpoint. Velo Workspaces does not operate this model server, does not proxy your prompts or model output through any service of ours, and does not have visibility into what you run through it. Nothing about your AI Bridge usage is collected or transmitted by the app.

Network access the app does use

Velo Workspaces makes network requests only when you ask it to, and only for the following:

  • Downloading an operating system image you've chosen, directly from that project's own official source (for example, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, or Alpine's own servers), or from Apple when creating a macOS guest.
  • Checking for app updates, if and when the platform you installed Velo Workspaces from does this on your behalf.

None of this involves a server we operate, and none of it happens unless you initiate the action that requires it (creating a workspace, choosing an image to download).

Diagnostics and crash reporting: opt-in, off by default

Preferences includes optional settings to share diagnostics or crash reports to help identify and fix bugs. Both are off by default. If you turn one on, limited technical information about a crash or performance issue may be collected — this never includes the contents of your workspaces, your files, or anything running inside a guest operating system. You can turn either setting off at any time in Preferences, and the choice takes effect immediately.

Permissions the app may ask for

Velo Workspaces is sandboxed and only requests access to what a specific action needs, when you take that action:

  • Files and folders — requested only when you choose a shared folder, a storage location, or a disk image / ISO file through the standard macOS file picker. Access is scoped to exactly what you selected.
  • Microphone — requested only if you explicitly enable audio input for a specific workspace. If you never turn this on, the app never asks.

None of this data is transmitted anywhere — it's passed directly between your Mac and the guest operating system running inside a workspace.

No third-party analytics or advertising

Velo Workspaces does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software development kits. We don't build an advertising profile of you, and we don't sell or share data with data brokers, because we don't collect any in the first place.

Children's privacy

Velo Workspaces is a professional developer tool, not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Since the app has no account system, we have no way to notify you individually — check back here if you want to review the current version.
